Natalie Portman Biography: Natalie Portman became very famous after her debut role in the film Leon, which is considered to be a classic of world cinematography. Natalie Hershlag, Portman's real name, was born on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, Israel. When she was a child she was apt at acting and had drama lessons at summer camps. In 1993 Portman became young celebrity after her film debut in Leon. As a result, she was offered more roles and soon Portman was seen in Heat, co-starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, in Mars Attacks, Beautiful Girls and Star Wars. Nevertheless Natalie became an icon after her role in The Phantom Menace, the first part of a trilogy. Despite her acting, Portman managed to enter Harvard University to study psychology. Still, she continued playing and appeared in Star Wars II, Cold Mountain alongside Nicole Kidman, Closer and Garden State.
