Salma Hayek Biography: It is hard to imagine another actress playing Frida but not Salma Hayek. An actress and producer was born on September 2, 1966, in Veracruz, Mexico. When she was twelve her parents sent Salma to the Academy of the Sacred Heart, in the USA. Then she attended high school in Texas and after graduation returned home to continue study at college. Hayek parents wanted their daughter to study International Relations, so they were extremely disappointed to get to know that Salma dropped the college in order to become an actress. At the age of 23 Salma made debut in Teresa, a Mexican soap opera. Her next role was in a breaking out film El Callejon de los Milagros in 1994. This movie won maximum awards in the history of Mexican cinematography. As Hayek greatest dream was to star in Hollywood, so in 1991 she moved to Los Angeles to become a celebrity. Salma Hayek enslaved hears of American audience by her leading part in a movie Desperado, where she was acting together with Antonio Banderas. It was her first films portraying sex and nudity. All Hayek's next films were budget and got critical acclaim; they are Quentin Tarantino's "From Dusk Till Dawn", "Wild Wild West" where she acted alongside Will Smith and "Dogma" with a star cast of such actors as Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Janeane Garofalo and Chris Rock. In 2002 Hayek played a bisexual Mexican in Frida. A film is posed as an adult one with scenes of lesbian and "traditional" sex with Salma in a leading role. Hayek then got three nominations for this role. An actress is also known for her active charity work. She founded The Salma Hayek Foundation, which helps women who suffered violence. |
